Summer fun is on tap at Capital EX

Fun is the keynote at Capital EX, Edmonton’s biggest summer celebration, July 19 to 28.

Edmonton’s Capital EX exhibition, an event designed to reflect and celebrate all the unique aspects that make Edmonton a great place to live for citizens of all ages.

Taking place at Northlands Park, it’s an annual indulgence of unique treats and wacky, side-splitting variety acts, a place for families to make memories together.

Along with the midway and chuckwagon racing, there are unique arts, crafts and business exhibits.

Wednesday, July 25 is Seniors Day at the exhibition. For a special admission price of $5 per senior, on that day, you can enjoy a full day’s worth of events without ever leaving the midway-free AgriCom and Sportex zones.

See and hear Ronny Profit live at Telus Stage, or the Peking Acrobats in Hall D. Wend your way through three separate trade shows in the AgriCom

General shopping items and a food court are found in Hall A’s Shop Zone. Enjoy fine arts and crafts displays within Hall A as part of Northwest Originals, which includes a walk-through garden of 3-D sculptures created by the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts and displays by the Art Gallery of Alberta. Relive your cultural ancestry through Global Connections, also in Hall A, a feature show that represents 20 countries through exhibits, market stalls and live entertainment daily.

The Capital EX Casino in the AgriCom Hall B features a Seniors Day special buffet price of $9.95.

Finish off your evening inside Hall A, enjoying gourmet food and wine at the Sip section while watching live cultural performances onstage Global Connections.

Experience the history, music and artwork of Aboriginal culture at Kiyanaw: A First People’s Showcase in the Sportex Building.

Also within the Sportex, marvel as live exotic butterflies from around the world flit from your hand to your shoulders inside the Butterfly Experience walk-through garden space.

Situated in between the two buildings, Telus Stage also features a Seniors Day evening performances by hypnotist Terrance B, and a trip down memory lane with the Official Blues Brothers Revival.

For an experience of a lifetime, take your grandchildren to Walking With Dinosaurs – The Live Experience, a world-class show coming to Rexall Place July 25 to 28. Imagine free-moving, life-sized dinosaurs, some as tall as 45 feet, in a theatrical production portraying the rise and fall of the dinosaurs. Tickets cost as little as $32.95, which includes a full day at Capital EX for free.
